DCH4 Trail#2061  Leg 1 of the Dumbass Double**

Where: Valley Mill Special Park: E Randolph Rd, Colesville, MD 20904

When: 3PM Saturday, 6/29

Trail: A-A, Runners & Walkers, dog friendly bring a leash. Treat this as an extension of a BAH3 trail: wet, PI, Shiggy, bugs, webs, mud, etc.

**Butt what duz leg 1 of the Dumbass Double mean??? Nothing unless you are going to BAH3 trail the next day at 3 starting at Crash Test’s Chateau in Catonsville. If you do both then you can get CTD’s patch if you don’t already have it.

TIME: Gather 2:30; HARES AWAY: 3:00 pm

PRELUBE: Mt Vernon starts at 10am from the same location as DCH4, so come on out and make it a full day of hashing. 

START/END: 7233 Parsons Court, Alexandria, VA 22306 (Spitz’s Place)

TRAIL LOCATION: Huntley Meadows Park & Wetland Trails

COST: $10 (There will be food)

BRING: Hash Cash $10 (includes grilled chicken & nonmeat option, salad choices for all of you). Consider bringing a camp chair, clean clothes, bug and sunscreen spray. Wear your favorite TuTu or TwoTwo Shirt, or create something fun (or not) ☺

TRAIL DEETS: You all get TWO trail option: (1) Walker Trail (pedestrian park trail, option for playground and activity center) = 2.5-3 miles. (2) Runner Trail between 4 and 6 miles (shiggy factor = 5 – 7 out of 10). Walker trail = 1 beer check/1 shot check; Runner trail = 2 beer checks / 2 shot checks.

KID / DOG FRIENDLY: Yes (dogs on walker trail must be leashed but NOT allowed on boardwalk portion); Runner dogs fine on trail, keep controlled please. Kids / dogs welcomed at Spitz’s place.

ACCESSIBILITY FACTOR: If coming by car — plenty of parking in this townhome lot. Park in center area and NOT at numbered parking spaces. If coming by Metro or bus – closest is Huntington Metro Station which is the terminus for the Yellow Line. And /or try https://moovitapp.com/ to figure it out. Call Hare if you need a Metro pick up to start.

BACKGROUND (for those historic folks): Huntley Meadows dates back to the mid-1700s, when George Mason bought the land that now occupies the park. Over the years it was sold and eventually became property of the federal government, and it was used for top secret communications testing in the 1950s. It also housed anti-aircraft protection for the nation’s capital during that same time. Huntley Meadows is a 1,500-acre park with hiking trails and wetlands that are home to more than 200 species of birds.

Start location:  There are 4 parking lots in the park. We will meet in the central parking lot, which is located by making a right past the soccer field and will be the first parking lot on the left.

What: A Memorial-able Frackin’ Trail!

Location: Fort Totten Metro Station, 38.953484, -77.004431 (or just get off the damn train and look for marks!)

Time: Saturday, May 25, 3:00 PM,

Cost: $6

Details: A-A, Trail is strictly BYOV as there will be no single use cups, straws or Harrietts provided on trail.  Bring ID and extra $ because it is going to be long and hard. Dry bag with clean clothes and deo are requested.

It is going to be hot, hot, hot so dogs are OK but have mercy on the poor buggers and leave them home in the A/C.  Strollers & walkers OK on walker’s trail.

Donkey cart available for bags, dog and pony show for everyone else.

Directions:

By metro: Around 15 ft from the Fort Totten Metro Station (and all its colors of the rainbow).
